People have been enjoying the companionship of dogs for centuries whether as a family pet or as a hunting partner and protector. Furthermore, there’s no doubt that dogs are incredibly smart, but did you ever wonder if all that staring your dog was doing was actually because they were seeing a ghost or witnessing paranormal activity?

From a scientific perspective, we have no definitive proof that animals are capable of seeing spirits. However, given the thousands of paranormal witnesses, video footage, and my own experiences, I don’t need any more proof. I’m convinced.

My first experience with ghost-seeing animals was with our family’s cocker spaniel. Sandy was the runt of the litter, a blond with curly hair and ears that seemed almost too long, but one of her most admirable features was her ability to see things that humans couldn’t see.

The house we lived in was situated on land that had likely been home to indigenous people more than two hundred years ago. An old cemetery was within walking distance of the house and a log cabin–circa 1840s–was still standing next door. The neighbors often spoke of their ghostly sightings.
