My Haunted Evening with John Mark Karr, aka Alexis Reich: The Disturbed and Falsely Confessed Killer of Jon Benét Ramsey

December 25th, 2024, marks the 28th anniversary of Jon Benét Ramsey’s death and revives the frustration of a cold case that may never be solved. I remember seeing the news story 28 years ago. I was horrified by the details of the case and followed the investigation for a couple of years before I became annoyed and abandoned my pursuit when no one was arrested for the little girl’s death.
Months went by as I struggled with images of what must have happened, and I couldn’t get it out of my mind that the parents were somehow involved. I didn’t sleep well thinking of how twisted and evil a person must have been to harm that child. And then fast forward ten years. The events that led me to the front steps of John Mark Karr’s home feel as if they were orchestrated precisely for the story that I would eventually tell. It’s been five years since I met John, aka Alexis, but the memory of that meeting and the energy he left behind is as vivid to me as the spirits I clearly saw that night in his home. Not to mention what’s attached to his person.
In October 2017, I was invited to John’s home for a haunted history tour. He had recently moved to Aberdeen, Mississippi, and bought a 19th-century Victorian house he was restoring. One of my friends met John at a local antique auction and befriended him…
